The petticoat of embroidered muslin
The
petticoat (in this case worn as an upper skirt with a separate
bodice) was made of pre-embroidered cotton muslin according to
the extant piece, c. 1800 – 1806, www.antiquedress.com. It
consists of a skirt and an in the front open bodice of muslin
without embroidery, because the bodice shouldn’t be visible. For
the evening outfit, it can be worn with the embroidered silk
bodice with detachable muslin sleeves and pleated collar and for
the day outfit with the muslin bodice with short sleeves. All is
handsewn. |
