The reversible fan consists of bamboo
sticks and the painted textile leaf with applied printed
paper vignettes with engravings of Marie Antoinette and
Louis XVI. (Bibliothèque nationale de France). The fan is
trimmed with metal spangles and painting. The fan-leave was
inspired with an English fan, late 18th century and the
painting on sticks was inspired with an English fan, 1798,
Philadephia Museum of Art. |
