Doublet

   Grey woolen doublet dated to 1630-1645, hand-sewn according to Stuart Peachey's Clothes of the Common People in Elizabethan and Early Stuart England. The upper layer is a grey wool, the interlayer is made of a strong linen cloth, a lining made of two different types of fine flax. Buttons are also woolen, large 15 mm. Doublet has six tabs, below which is a sewn canvas belt with metal eyelets, to which the breeches with metal hooks on the belt hang.
