Pomander

The decorative capsule for aromatic herbs or a piece of fabric impregnated with aromatic essences was a part of an equipment of a noble lady. Pomanders can have different shapes and trimmings. Pomanders were worn hanging on a chain fastened on the belt.
The filigree pomander of golden-plated brass has a lenticular shape. There is a peacock decorated with blue lapis, green chrysoprasus beads, white pearls and silver wire. It consists of two identical parts join with a joint.
