Regency hats
Two
Regency hats of fabric covered cardboard. The lady's hat of
cotton velvet lined with linen is made according to the English
hat, c. 1800 (the Museum of Fine Arts Boston) and is trimmed
with a silk scarf as is visible at an English fashion plate,
morning dresses, May 1803 (LACMA). The child's one of a fabric
with interwoven animal hair lined with linen was made according
to the fashion plate from Modes de Paris, Costume d'enfant, No
11, 1810 (Bibliotheque Nationale de France) and is trimmed with
silk twisted cord with silk tassels. |
