Early baroque male clothing
This dress
represents functional clothes for casual wear without wasted
trimming. Still such clothing follows prevailing fashion
including a high waistline and pleated breeches. The outfit
consists of breeches with pockets and a doublet, which are at
the waistline joined by hooks and rings. It is made of woolen
twill with linen lining according to a damask doublet and
breeches, c. 1630 (Victoria & Albert Museum, London). The
outside shape is partly inspired by a doublet and breeches,
England, c. 1625 – 1635 (Victoria & Albert Museum, London). The separate
linen band and cuffs are worn with a doublet. |
