Baroque Gown
The underbodice and the decorated petticoat could be worn as an
casual dress. They are made of white satin, the favorite fabric in early baroque. The petticoat is
pleated by cartridge pleating (popular already in Renaissance). The underbodice consists of two parts – the underbodice
itself and the stomacher. Paned double puff sleeves also called
“virago sleeves” are cut according to a pattern of J. Hunnisett
(Period Costume for Stage & Screen). The rest of the underbodice, the petticoat and also
the overgown are cut according to a pattern of L. Kybalová (Dějiny
odívání: Barok a rokoko), which had to be adapted. |
