Castile Lady
The clothing is
inspired by the manuscript Libro de los Juegos (made for King
Alfonso in 1283) and by the artifacts preserved in Museo de las
Telas Medievales de Burgos. The garment consists of a striped
pellote, a red saya encordada, a camisa margomanda (embroidered
smock), typical castilian headdress (capiello castellano), the
belt and embroidered purse. Cotton camisa is richly embroidered
by a red and blue long legged cross stitch. The motives were
taken from period textiles. The smock is laced up on the right
side same as period pieces.
Next pages represent
the embroidery and details of the belt and purse.
