Castile Lady
The clothing is
inspired by the manuscript Libro de los Juegos (made for King
Alfonso in 1283) and by the artifacts preserved in Museo de las
Telas Medievales de Burgos. The garment consists of a striped
pellote, a red saya encordada, a camisa margomanda (embroidered
smock), typical castilian headdress (capiello castellano), the
belt and embroidered purse. The striped pellote is made
according to the extant piece belonging to the Eleanor of
Castile, Queen of Aragon (+1244). Decorative gold stripe can be
seen on the piece of Enrique I.
Next pages represent a
saya, a smock and details of the belt and purse.
