Dress of Marie de Medici

 

  The white cotton smock is based on pattern of linen smock said to have belonged to Mary, Queen of Scots, c. 1575-85 (Cougton Court, Alcester, The National trust). The pattern is published by Janet Arnold in Pattern of Fashion IV (page 115). The lower edge is much longer on the sides that the middle part. This is adjusted when a corset is putted on.
