Buckles were functional decoration used to pin together clothes. Small buckles were used to pin e.g. the rosaries, rough buckles pinned together e.g. cloaks. Material of buckles as richness and decoration depends on the wealth and social status of its owner. Many opulent buckles were used only as a decoration. These buckles have brass corpus trimmed with rubies, pruning and drizzling with other metals, for example silver or copper.
