Chemise a la reine

  Chemise a la reine is a loose “shirt/chemise” dress with a sash at the waist, which obtained its name from the French queen Marie Antoinette, who was portrayed in this dress style in 1783, and liked to wear it. The dress is hand sewn except a few structural machine seams on petticoats made originally for the robe á la polonaise. The dress of silk muslin is made according to the pattern of a chemise dress from c. 1785, located in Gallery of English Costume, Manchester (N. Waugh: The cut of women´s clothes, 1600-1930). The dress is tied by silk ribbons in the waist-line, bust-line and neck-line and at the sleeves and the skirt of the dress is hemmed from the waist-line by a cotton fringe. The dress is completed with a silk sash with silk fringe which can be only tied or fastened by a porcelain buckle with tree Graces, made by a goldsmith Mgr. Michaela Kršková.
